There can be some traffic on 50 and 88 too. There may be water at a campground between Strawberry and Hwy 88. There will likely be no SAG support and riders should be prepared to ride on alone if too fast or slow. We can try to regroup but it will not be required on this ride. It is just the nature of a ride with 7000+ ft. or so of climbing. It could be hot. Bring plenty of food and water! Arrive at 6:45 AM and be ready to roll at 7:AM sharp! Mileage: 72 | | Meeting Place: Bike Big Blue will Start and Finish at the Lake Tahoe Horizon Casino Resort on Highway 50, Stateline, South Shore Lake Tahoe, Nevada. | | Description: Lake Tahoe -- Big Blue, as it is referred to by many -- is North America’s Largest Alpine Lake and the Jewel of the High Sierra ... and the Reno Tahoe Territory of the Nevada Commission on Tourism and Bike the West invites you to experience the adventure of riding your bicycle around her 72-mile shoreline by participating in the 5th Annual Tour de Tahoe – Bike Big Blue. The course circumnavigates the highways clockwise around Lake Tahoe in both Nevada and California. It includes a challenging 800-foot climb to a rest stop overlooking Emerald Bay and a 1,000-foot climb to Spooner Junction. There are also many short rolling ascents and descents totaling over 2,600 vertical feet of elevation. This is a great way for Alta Alpina Club members to ride around the lake.

Just turn into Clio, go across the bridge, take a right at the post office and we are the first house on the right #300 | | Description: The Plumas Sierra Bike Club is proposing the Revival of the PLUMAS SIERRA CENTURY and has extended an invitation to Alta Alpina members to join in this test ride. This is just a group of cycling friends getting together for a ride in the Sierras. This is NOT a sponsored ride and the Plumas Sierra Bike Club nor its membeers have any responsibility for the health/wellbeing of anyone who participates. Possibly in the future, Plumas Sierra Bike Club may want to take this ride on as a sponsored ride, but for this year this is just a "word of mouth" type of ride. If it grows, the club will work to re-establish and sponsor this great ride from the past. Route: Clio to Portola Clockwise around Lake Davis including the spur to Lightening Tree Highway 70 to A-24 to Loyalton Loyalton to Sierraville Sierraville to Satley Climb Yuba pass to Bassetts Bassetts up/over Gold Lakes Gold Lakes to Clio Options: Numerous route options for those interested in riding less than 100 miles Support: Stores in Portola, Lake Davis, Loyalton, Sierraville & Bassetts What to bring: Besides your bike & gear, bring munchies to pass around after the ride. We’ll have refreshments waiting at our house. Where to stay: There are forest service campgrounds nearby, however a more comfortable option may be to stay at MOLLY’S BED AND BREAKFAST two doors down from our house. The owner, Carolyn, is very pro-bike and would like to extend a discount to anyone who stays there and is part of this ride.
