Alta Alpina 8 Pass Challenge

"The World's Toughest Double Century"
The ride features:
  • 20,300 feet of climbing over 198 miles
  • The most scenic double century ever on the best pavement
  • Start/Finish at Turtle Rock Park
  • Featuring these eight passes in the order listed:
    1. Kingsbury Grade aka Daggett Pass (East)
    2. Luther Pass (South)
    3. Carson Pass (East)
    4. Blue Lakes Road
    5. Ebbetts (East)
    6. Ebbetts (West)
    7. Monitor (West)
    8. Monitor (East)
  • Eight fully stocked rest stops
  • Post-ride meal at Turtle Rock Park
  • Ride Fees
    Optional Training Ride Series for additional fees

This is the ultimate one day challenge and is for riders physically and mentally prepared for this adventure.

Each course location has opening and closing times that must be respected and volunteers will strictly enforce cut-off times intended to keep everyone safe.

An exclusive 8 Pass Finisher Jersey will be available for purchase to those who ride their bicycle over the full 8 Pass Challenge route within the time limits.

There will be a bag drop to the top of monitor for lights and warm clothing (both required after sunset). You can bag your items at the start or at the Mottsville stop when you return from the top of Kingsbury.

The Grand Tour and Alta Alpina 8 Pass Challenge are both scheduled for the same date. If you are a California Triple Crown participant and wish to ride both events we can accommodate you in our staff ride. Please contact challenge@altaalpina.org for details.
